The whole Education system is a failure

Brinsford-Kirby English Teachers were the finest educators Malaysia ever produced. Read "Bring back the Brinsford - Kirby English Teachers by Azly Rahman."

My mum was one of them. Grammar, Comprehension, Composition and Spelling was a must, must with her class. Later when she became the Headmistress for Kg Pandan Primary Girls School, she make sure all the English teachers follow suit. She was strict but all the students simply loved her for she cared for their education and future. When my mum retired, a Malay lady took over and the teaching for the English language was sidelined. Many parents protested to the Education Department but were ignored and later the school changed its name to Sekolah Puteri.

Last year approximately 100 teacher trainees returned home from Australia and New Zealand. From that figure not a single one of them was assigned to teach the English Language, Maths or Science in schools. This is the sorry state of affair our Education Ministry is running.

Muhyiddin and Najib are talking rubbish when they said RM5 billion would be allotted and emphasizes that more time would be allocated to the teaching of the English language. From past experience and knowledge most Malaysian are aware that only RM5 million will go into the teaching of English language with the rest of the money going into private holidays, bank accounts, useless and outdated softwares etc...............even school principals are smiling more these days.

I will continue to stress that the Government of the day must revamp the whole Education system instead of adding more and more money. It is the system that is the failure. Money is necessary and a need but putting into an already failed system will not work no matter how much effort and patchwork is put into it.
