Mohd Ali Baharom, of the 'butt exercise' fame, has announced his intention to quit Umno.

Two years ago, he made headlines for leading a group of army veterans in performing “butt exercise” in front of human rights advocate Datuk Ambiga Sreenivasan’s house.
However, on Tuesday, the Malaysian Armed Forces Veterans president, Mohd Ali Baharom, made an announcement on his Facebook account that he was quitting Umno.
Citing issues with the party leadership, Mohd Ali maintained that he was still a supporter of Barisan Nasional (BN).
Mohd Ali lamented that Umno’s leadership was ruining Malays and Islam.
In 2012, a group of 15 ex-servicemen organised a “butt exercise” in front of Ambiga’s house in Bukit Damansara.
The demonstration was done in protest against Ambiga, whom the group dubbed “public enemy” for her attempts to tarnish the country’s name by organising the Bersih 3.0 rally.
Mohd Ali, who also goes by the nickname “Ali Tinju”, told Ambiga at the time that they would take action if the lawyer continued to tarnish the country’s name.
