Treasury Sec Gen RM100 million house

Video of luxury home allegedly owned by Treasury sec-gen surfaces online

Clip features woman introducing her ‘husband Asri’, showcases interior

design works

KUALA LUMPUR – A video from 2021 showing a luxury residence

purportedly belonging to Treasury Secretary-General Datuk Seri

Asri Hamidin @ Hamidon has emerged, amid speculation that he is

to be replaced.

The minute-long clip appears to be an advertisement for the services

of an interior design company called Skuad Dekorasi.

A family with a man resembling Asri also makes a brief appearance

in the video as the purported owners of the home.

The video shows the beautiful furnishings of several bedrooms,

living rooms and kitchen, while the woman in the family talks

about the family’s satisfaction with the renovation and redesign

by Skuad Dekorasi.

At the beginning of her testimony, she can be heard introducing

herself and her “husband Asri”.

The video was posted on July 1, 2021 on a Facebook page

called Anwar Ibrahim PM Rakyat. It is not an official government

page and has about 119,000 followers.

Asri’s status as Treasury secretary-general is currently in doubt

after he was absent from the clocking-in ceremony for new

Finance Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim in Putrajaya a few

days ago.

He was also absent from a briefing by senior officials of the

ministry for the new minister.

Yesterday, it was reported that Asri had already been on leave

at the time and that an announcement about changes in roles

in the civil service would be made by the Chief Secretary to

the Government Tan Sri Mohd Zuki Ali soon.

There have also been media reports that Asri would be removed,

but no explanations have been given.

The 56-year-old was appointed on May 1, 2020 during the

administration of then-prime minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin,

and had served under the finance minister at the time, Tengku

Datuk Seri Zafrul Tengku Abdul Aziz. – The Vibes, December 8, 2022
