Hello Bahri Mohamad Zain, you dare to touch Rosmah and Zahid?
MACC director: By God, I'll find the culprits
Amidst the crackdown on Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) officers, its special operations division director Bahri Mohamad Zain has vowed to find out who is behind the order.
When Malaysiakini contacted him this evening, Bahri said he just conducted a 'solat hajat' (special prayers) to seek divine protection for him and his personnel in the execution of their duties.
Vexed over the police's action, he thundered: "I will find the perpetrators who are ordering the arrests. By God, I will find the perpetrators till kingdom come."
Bahri said the special division probed the case revolving around former 1MDB subsidiary SRC International Sdn Bhd "day and night since fasting month."
He said the team even sacrificed their Hari Raya leave for the case.
"We do not have time to play politics as we are doing our job as entrusted by the public on what they expect us to do with regard to this investigation," he added.
"You may have (political) powers, but I have Allah," he cautioned those behind the move.
Whether the police arrest or question his officers, Bahri said it affected their work and is in violation of Section 48 of the MACC Act.
"What they are doing is disturbing our investigation," he added.
Bahri was among those questioned by the police in connection with the leak of a draft charge sheet purportedly for Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak with regard to the SRC case, which led to speculation it was linked to the sudden removal of Abdul Gani Patail as attorney-general.
Gani's successor Mohamad Apandi Ali, however, dismissed the charge sheet as false.
After having his statement recorded, Bahri suggested that there were hidden hands behind the police's action, which he described as "mad work".
He also said the leak did not originate from MACC.
SRC International Sdn Bhd came under the spotlight following claims that RM42 million was deposited into the prime minister's bank accounts between late last year and February this year.
The special division also arrested and remanded several top executives in connection with the case.
Prior to this, the police detained former MACC adviser Rashpal Singh and the commission's deputy public prosecutor Ahmad Sazalee Abdul Khairi.
Also arrested was Attorney-General's Chambers officer Jessica Gurmeet Kaur.
The trio have since been released.
MACC chief Mohamed Abu Kassim is on leave and his number two Mohd Shukri Abdull is currently abroad on official duty.
However, Bahri said Shukri is monitoring the situation and remains in constant communication.
