KUALA LUMPUR: A total of 14 participants and the Black 505 organising committee members were arrested by the police for refusing to disperse from the sidewalk in front of Sogo shopping complex.
Solidariti Anak Muda Malaysia (SAMM) propaganda director Eddy Noor Reduan and student activist Safwan Anang were among those arrested after participating in a flashmob.
They were brought to the Dang Wangi district police station.
The flashmob earlier started at 2pm with some performing songs in front of the shopping complex.
The participants highlighted the allegation that the 13th general election results were rigged.
A police officer identified only as Suhaimi negotiated with Eddy.
“Please disperse. We give you 15 minutes,” Suhaimi said. Eddy however declined.
“We did not demonstrate. We are just performing flashmob. It is our right to assemble as enshrined in Article 10 of the Federal Constitution,” said the SAMM leader.
