KUALA LUMPUR: Malaysian children received better education than those in advanced countries based on the World Economic Forum's global competitiveness report, said Deputy Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin.
He said the report ranked Malaysia 14th among 142 countries in quality of education and second in the ASEAN region.
"For those who have come to me complaining about our education system, it seems the report contradicts their claims.
"Furthermore, the report also states that our younger generation are receiving a better education than students in the United States, Britain and Germany," said Muhyiddin at a national higher education carnival at Putra World Trade Centre here.
He reiterated the government's commitment that every citizen enjoys quality affordable education.
"Only with quality education can we increase the nation's intellectual and human capital capabilities which are essential to becoming a high income nation by 2020," he said.
