WHY PDRM DOES NOT WANT TO TAKE ACTION AGAINST VINCENT TAN'S SON WHO IS STILL VERY MUCH INTO GROWING,  SELLING AND CONSUMING DRUGS?

WHY THIS PLACE WAS NEVER RAIDED FOR DRUGS AND PROSTITUTION?

WAS THE HALAL ISSUE BROUGHT IN TO DIVERT RAKYAT'S ATTENTION AWAY FROM THE PLANTED GUNS AND DRUGS?

Describing the Seputeh MP as a "Nyonya tua" (old Nyonya), Akmal said Kok should not have interfered in Islamic affairs related to halal certification.

THERE ARE 16 GROUPS OF NON MUSLIM AND 1 MALAY STUDENT GROUP, PROVIDING FOOD AND NECESSITIES TO THE HOMELESS AND POOR IN KUALA LUMPUR AND SELANGOR.

GOVERNMENT DOES NOT GIVE THESE GROUPS MONEY TO HELP THE POOR AND HOMELESS.  THEY  THE 16 PLUS 1 GROUP DID IT BECAUSE THEY CARE AND WITH THEIR OWN MONEY TRY TO DO THEIR BEST.

Don’t burden small food vendors with new halal rule, says MP

PETALING JAYA: Seputeh MP Teresa Kok has opposed a proposal to require all food establishments that do not serve pork or alcohol to obtain halal certificates.

Kok said the move could impose significant burdens on small businesses, restrict consumer freedom, and may clash with Malaysia’s cultural diversity.

“Many establishments, including numerous small Malay-run restaurants, would face increased financial strain and operational difficulties under the new requirement,” she said in a statement today.

Kok, who is DAP vice-chairman, said halal certification should remain a voluntary process, allowing business operators to decide based on market demand rather than being forced to do so.

The proposal, which is being studied by the Malaysian Islamic development department (Jakim), might violate the existing laws and fundamental constitutional rights, she said.

“There is no law currently requiring halal certification for restaurants. Making it compulsory may provoke negative reactions domestically and embarrass Malaysia on the international stage,” she said.

She urged the government to focus on formulating policies that would support economic recovery and improve the people’s welfare, rather than imposing unnecessary regulatory burdens.

Yesterday, religious affairs minister Na’im Mokhtar said Jakim is considering the proposal as obtaining halal certification was currently on a voluntary basis for restaurant operators or food business owners.

Na’im acknowledged that the proposal would require several laws to be amended and many agencies to be involved in enforcing it.

On Tuesday, Jakim confirmed that six popular food and beverage outlets regularly patronised by Muslims were not halal-certified. It listed Johnny’s, Black Canyon, Dolly Dim Sum, Mr Dakgalbi, Bungkus Kaw Kaw, and Ayam Penyet Best (except for four outlets) as not having halal certificates.

Federal govt wants Jakim's role to 

be expanded - Anwar

The federal government wants to expand the role of the Malaysian Islamic Development Department (Jakim) in efforts to enhance the country's dignity and status, says Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim.

Anwar said he had met with Jakim's leadership recently and wanted them to help draft a national development policy framework based on Malaysia MADANI.

"Previously, Jakim's work was to preach, provide training and organise Al-Quran recitation and memorisation competitions with the respective state governments, but Jakim played less of a role in drafting the 12th Malaysia Plan and MADANI Budget.

"I have instructed that the role of the muftis, scholars or figures in Jakim should be in line with this development so that their input can be beneficial and can raise the dignity and status of the country," he said in a speech at the 1444H/2023 National Recitation and Al-Quran Memorisation Competition here tonight.
