Beware of this con man

Robbery/theft at a hand phone shop located at Digital Mall Petaling Jaya Section 14. I was at my counter when an elderly Chinese man walked up to me to inquire about the best price for two units of Samsung Galaxy 3. After a little bargain we agreed on the price, just then my colleagues came back, I told my colleague to keep an eye on him, and then I went to the supplier to find the stock for him. When I returned he told me that he wanted to mail them to his two twin children that lived in Penang, so we said no problem uncle, we will help you, he then took out two envelops, two black colored zip bags, two birthday cards and put them on the table. I wanted to put the whole box in the envelope but the trickster told me to just put the phone and accessories into the bags as supposedly he was going to mail them to via courier. So we helped him to open up the boxes, wrap the phones in wrapping paper and placed them into the black colored zip bags. At the time my regular customer came by and sat on the left hand side of the counter, so there were in total 3 staff and one customer that were there at the time. He then asked us to help him fill out the birthday card and write the addresses of his so called children on the envelopes. He then pulled out two red colored angpows and put RM400 in each of the zip bags along with the handsets and accessories. once we finished helping him write the addresses and names on the birthday cards, we then put the entire black zip bags into the envelops and sealed them. Then I asked him about the payment? He then asked me where the nearest ATM machine was. I then pointed to the RHB ATM machine at the same floor at the corner of the mall. So he went to the ATM and we noticed that he made a phone call in front of the ATM, then awhile later he was gone. At the time we were not worried because we taught that the phones along with RM800 of angpow was in our hands. So we thought that maybe he went to another ATM, the incident occurred at around 1.47pm to 2.10pm on the 27th July 29, 2012. At 5 o’clock I left to fetch my wife to the hospital for a checkup. On the way home my colleague called at 6plus pm and said that he felt that there was something wrong so he opened the envelopes and found stones tiles inside, the 2 units of Galaxy S 3 along with the RM800 of angpow was gone! I called my Boss and informed her about this and requested a copy of the CCTV recording of the robbery. She said that she will pass it to me tomorrow (28th) and asked me to make a police report. The next day I took all the evidence along with the CCTV recording and headed to the nearest police station and as I was typing the report, I was accused of abiding in the crime; the officer said that I would have to be detained for investigation! I was so freaking scared and worried at the time because my wife was pregnant and I am the only one that was here for. I then pleaded to the officer not to detain me and that I would fully cooperate in the investigation. After some time he told me to finish my report and come back at 8.30pm, so I finished my report and called my Boss to come to the police station to fetch me. I was very afraid and worried I would be detained and could not stop thinking of what would happen to my pregnant wife if I was to be detained. I then went to the police station with the evidence and CCTV recording. After I showed the evidence and explained the whole matter to the officer he said that lucky you have the CCTV recording, if not we would have to detain you. Because of this I could not sleep for two nights and being a Muslim, instead of buka Puasa at 7.30 yesterday I puasa until now. I just feel very bad, as a citizen and as a human being. I hope my story will prevent this kind crime from reoccurring and I swear the next time I am a victim of crime, I will never ever go make a police report. I told my wife that in Malaysia it was not safe to go out, stay at home, not safe to go or work in shopping complexes, and in my case not even safe to lodge reports. I told her that Insyaallah when my Son is born? And if by then things don’t change? We are going to migrate to Indonesia! I will not let my Son grow up in such a Country! If any of you working in shopping malls please be more careful and for your own safety make sure you have sufficient evidence before lodging a report.
